MANILA, Philippines—New party-list group Partido ng Manggagawa Coalition (PM COALITION) on Monday called on the high court to act on its petition assailing the Commission on Elections decision disqualifying them from running in the upcoming election.

The group trooped to the Supreme Court a day before its scheduled en banc (full court) session as it called on Comelec’s ruling as “erroneous.”

“The Comelec had made a mess of the so-called cleansing of the party-list system by still accrediting numerous bogus party-lists,” PM COALITION president Bong Palad said, in a statement.

Before the Christmas break, the group went to the Supreme Court and questioned the Comelec’s ruling. They also asked the high court to issue a temporary restraining order against the implementation of the Comelec’s decision.

However, unlike other disqualified groups, PM COALITION was not able to secure a status que ante or Mandatory Injunction from the Supreme Court.
