Driver who stole P5-M worth of jewelry charged

A complaint for robbery was filed against a family driver who robbed his employer of assorted jewelry worth P5 million in Maria Luisa Estate Park, an an exclusive subdivision in Cebu City.

Charged before the Cebu City Prosecutors’ Office was Jonathan Forosuelo, Jr., who remains at large

Forosuelo, 25, was identified by 78-year-old Angeles Mathieu as the one who robbed her last Dec. 29.

In her affidavit, Mathieu said the suspect had been working for her as a stay-in driver since March 3, 2012.

Forosuelo is a native of Clarin, Misamis Occidental  but lived in Brooke Valley in barangay Lahug, Cebu City based on the documents he submitted when he applied as Mathieu’s driver.

Mathieu in her affidavit said she was sleeping in her room when she was awakened by the sound of the door being opened at 5:30 a.m..

The victim said she Forosuelo enter her room and suddenly covered her mouth.

“Ayaw ug lihok nyorita. Hold-up ni, ayaw og saba (Don’t move ma’am. This is a hold-up. Don’t shout.),” Mathieu quoted Forosuelo as saying.

The victim said she feared for her safety and did not resist.  Mathieu said the suspect then took her jewelry box and P5,000 cash.

Stolen items included a 3.5 karat emerald cut diamond ring double raw of diamond and a tennis bracelet.

The suspect fled using the victim’s Hyundai Sta. Fe SUV which was later found abandoned along  A.S. Fortuna Street in barangay Banilad.  The victim’s wallet containing ATM card was found in the car.

SPO1 Jeffrey Larrobis of the Mabolo police station said they are coordinating with their counterparts in Misamis Occidental for the possible arrest of the suspect./CORRESPONDENT TWEENY M. MALINAO
