TRADER LOSES P100T TO ROBBERS

A LIVESTOCK buyer said he lost at least P100,000 to two armed robbers in barangay Arbor, Boljoon town, southern Cebu.

The robbery happened past 2 p.m. Wednedsya while Oscar Baclay Paras was heading to Oslob town to buy livestock on board a multicab driven by Artemio Naveo, 29

Oscar Baclay Paras, a resident of Carcar City, said two men on board a motorcycle flagged them down and pointed guns at them when the multicab stopped.

Paras said the robbers, who were armed with .45 caliber pistols, took his wallet containing P111,300 cash and drove off.

MAN CHARGED FOR MOLESTING GIRL

A 47-YEAR-OLD man was arrested for allegedly molesting a 13-year-old girl in barangay Cotcot, Liloan, northern Cebu.

Joe Cabitangan was charged with acts of lasciviousness on Wednesday at Mandaue City Proscutors’ Office.

Cabitangan did not comment on the accusation against him. He was believed to be under the influence of alcohol during the incident, SPO3 Gay Servilla of Liloan police said.

Police said the 13-year-old child was with her siblings when they met Cabatingan around 6 p.m. last Monday.

The girl told police that the man approached her and touched her private parts.

The girl went home and reported the incident to her parents, who then sought help from barangay officials.

MAN DIES IN SOGOD BIKE CRASH

A 53-YEAR-OLD man died while three others were wounded after an overloaded motorcycle fell in a ravine in barangay Pansoy, Sogod town, northern Cebu.

Police identified the fatality as Agapito Catapan, who sustained injuries in the different parts of the body

The XRM Honda motorcycle was driven by Catapan’s son Christopher. Also on board the motorcycle were Christopher’s live-in partner Mary Jane Brigole, 22, and their 11-year-old daughter.

Police said the victims were on their way home when they met the accident around 4 p.m. Tuesday.

PO3 Elymar Mendoza of Sogod police said Christopher may have lost control of the motorcycle as it was overloaded.

The motorcycle plunged into a ravine about 50 meters deep, police said.

ILLEGAL GAMBLING MACHINES SEIZED

POLICE seized 28 illegal gambling machines in separate operations in Cebu City on Wednesday night.

The simultaneous operations were conducted by operatives of the City Intelligence Branch (CIB), Duljo-Fatima, Pasil and Carreta police.

Police seized 18 video karera machines in barangay Duljo-Fatima, five in barangay Pasil and five in Carreta.

Fifteen bingo machines were also confiscated from these barangays.

MAN DROWNS OFF BANTAYAN ISLAND

A 22-YEAR-OLD man drowned while swimming with his friends in the waters off barangay Poblacion, Bantayan Island, Cebu.

The body of Marde Oflas Albacite was found by police floating a few hours after he disappeared.

Police said the man was last seen drinking with his friends in a videoke stall in a public market when they decided to swim in a beach past 2 a.m. Wednesday.

An hour after, one of the man’s friends noticed that Albacite was missing.

The body was found floating about three hours later.
