THE northern municipality of Borbon, Cebu will host a professional boxing event this Saturday (January 5) headlined by Omega gym prospect Jason Canoy (15W-3L-2D, 10 KOs) who will face Arlon Batingal (7W-5L, 4 KOs) for the vacant Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) flyweight title.
Canoy beat Ryan Bongcawel by ninth round knockout last July at the J Centre Mall in Mandaue City and three months later had a technical draw against Jetli Purisima in Dalaguete.
Batingal on the other hand, lost to Renoel Pael by unanimous decision in Siquijor last September but bounced back with a first round knockout win over Jonathan Ricablanca last December in Butuan City.
Also set to see action are Omega Gym boxer Junie Salogaol and Buhay Boksingero superfeatherweight division winner Jessie Cris Rosales who will be facing separate opponents.
There will also be four more bouts on the undercards. The fights will be supervised by GAB-Cebu. /Correspondent Rene Bonsubre Jr.
