MANILA, Philippines–A man who claimed he fired his gun on New Year’s eve in Caloocan City was held under police custody Thursday.

A report by Radyo Inquirer 990 AM said the man, identified as a certain Juan Agos, has been taken to the Caloocan City police headquarters for questioning.

The report said Agos, a former military man, admitted having fired his gun during the revelry after much prodding by his drinking buddies in their neighborhood.

The report said police also brought with them the .45 caliber pistol owned by Agos, which he allegedly admitted having fired.

A 7-year-old girl, Stephanie Nicole Ella, died on Wednesday after being hit by a stray bullet in the head while watching fireworks outside their house in Caloocan City on Monday night.
