MANILA, Philippines – An inter-island ferry ran aground off Dumaguete City Thursday morning due to strong winds spawned by bad weather, according to witnesses.
Initial reports from the area reaching the Philippine Daily Inquirer said there were 192 adults, 23 children and 11 infants aboard.
There is no word about the crew.
The ship was said to have come from Zamboanga, one of the provinces affected by tropical depression “Auring”.
Rescue of passengers aboard the ferry is now ongoing.
