The Central Bank of the Philippines, the forerunner of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, was established on Jan. 3, 1949. Then the country’s central monetary authority, it was replaced by the BSP on July 3, 1993, pursuant to the provisions of the 1987 Constitution and the New Central Bank Act of 1993.
