MANILA, Philippines—The Court of Appeals on Wednesday set an oral argument on Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia’s petition for a temporary restraining order.
Garcia has asked the appellate court to stop the Office of the President from suspending her for six months due to usurpation of authority.
The Court of Appeals 12th Division set the oral argument on January 10.
Garcia, a member of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), was suspended by Malacañang after she was found guilty of grave abuse of authority in a 2010 administrative case filed against her.
Cebu Vice-Governor Agnes Magpale, a member of the ruling Liberal Party, was sworn into office as acting governor.
The appeals court also asked Malacañang to file its comment on Garcia’s petition for TRO.
