DepEd holds harmonizing conference workshop

THE Department of Education (DepEd) is now focusing on harmonizing projects of government and non-government organizations on values education and moral recovery program.

DepEd Central Visayas assistant regional director Dr. Caridad Labe said a harmonizing conference workshop was held recently at the DepEd Ecotech in sitio Sudlon, barangay Lahug, Cebu City wherein participating groups were given 20 minutes to present their blue print for a three-year values education development plan for teachers, children, school head, education supervisor, alternative learning system enrolees and parents.

The groups came from the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI), Mary Help of Christian Crusade for Boys and Girls, Philippine National Police Values Formation Council, National Auxiliary Chaplaincy Philippines, Archdiocesan Campus Ministry, Moral Recovery Movement, Sister Carmella Group and Alive Group.

They engaged in activities focusing on the theme of K to 12 values education framework, “Pagpapakatao at pagiging kasapi ng pamilya (self -worth), Pakikipagkapwa tao (harmony with other people), Pagmamahal sa bansa at pakikibahagi sa pandaigdigang pagkakaisa (love of country and solidarity) and Pagkamaka Diyos at preperensya ka kabutihan (love of God and preference for the good).”

“The purpose of this harmonization is for the underserved children to be given equal opportunity or to democratize access in school,” said Labe.

Workshop output will be presented by Philippine Moral Recovery Program founder former senator Leticia Ramos Shahani in the first Cebu Asia Pacific Education Summit on Feb. 1 to 3 at the Radisson Blu Hotel. /UP MassComm student Christine B. Barrete
