To avoid distractions, policemen in Mandaue City will no longer be allowed to play computer games or use social networking sites or prohibited sites while on duty.
Non-authorized use of computers in police stations is one of the main causes of work delays, said Senior Supt. Noel Gillamac, director of the Mandaue City Police Office.
Gillamac issued the policy yesterday in a conference with five station commanders and heads of special units in Mandaue.
The order aims to make the police more efficient, and applies to all police personnel down to job-order employees.
Even during break time, policemen will not be allowed to use computers unless its work-related.
Accessing Facebook and similar networking sites will only be allowed if it is part of an investigation.
Gillamac said some crime cases were solved with using social networking sites for research.
Gillamac said a group will be assigned to inspect the computers in each police station to make sure that downloaded games are deleted.
Gillamac said violators will be dealt with accordingly.
