QUEZON—Victims of a fire that destroyed a third of the public market in Sariaya town are not losing hope that they would recover from their losses soon.
Anselmo Reyes, one of the victims, said the fire survivors have been through similar challenges in the past when fires also ate up the market. “We will again survive,” said Reyes, who owned a dry goods store destroyed by the fire.
Rosenda Morada, who owned an eatery that was also destroyed by the fire, said she and her children are now using clothes from donors as they were unable to save anything from the fire.
On Friday, Quezon Gov. David Suarez visited the fire victims and gave each P5,000 in cash. Delfin T. Mallari Jr., Inquirer Southern Luzon
