Although the provincial trips offered by all bus companies stationed at the Araneta Center Bus Terminal in Quezon City are already booked solid in the days leading up to and beyond the New Year, chance passengers continue to arrive in the hopes of securing a seat.

According to representatives of bus companies at the terminal, all their trips are booked until Jan. 3, Cubao police station commander Supt. Ramon Pranada told the Inquirer.

“Chance passengers continue to arrive. But bus companies assure the commuters that they have extra buses,” he said.

Pranada recalled that last year, passengers going home to their  provinces for the New Year revelry started making their way to bus terminals only on Dec. 28.

This year, however, people have been going home since Dec. 26, he said, prompting him to deploy around 30 policemen to bus terminals in Cubao and on Edsa since Dec. 22.
