THE Alliance Francaise de Cebu recently signed an agreement with the Bureau of Immigration of Quebec in Hong Kong.
Since April 2012, Filipinos who want to migrate to Quebec are required to learn French and this can be taken at Cebu’s Alliance Francaise, the only official Canadian Embassy accredited center that offers French language.
This year, Quebec will select 10,000 immigrants from the Philippines to cater to its needs of qualified migrants.
With this agreement, one who took French language courses starting last Oct. 21 in Alliance Francaise de Cebu and is holding a Quebec selection certificate will be reimbursed up to Canadian $1,500.
To apply as an immigrant in Quebec, A2 level French diploma should be presented.
In Alliance Francaise de Cebu, one can take either DELF exam (diploma delivered by the French government, recognized in Canada) or TEFAQ exam (diploma for Quebec). According to Alliance Francaise de Cebu, the only accredited center in the Visayas, after only 150 hours of learning French, one can already pass the A2 diploma.
The next DELF-session will be on March 13 to 15. Registration will start on Feb. 1. Those who want to take the TEFAQ exam can schedule a session anytime.
Schedules are: Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon (24 hrs.), Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (32 hrs.), and MWF from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. (48 hrs.). Those who want to follow a faster program can join the daily class from Monday to Friday, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (50 hrs.) or the crash course, 9 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. (90 hrs.). On Thursdays at 4:30 p.m., the youth can take the fun-filled classes for an hour and a half.
