Demolition in Tejero set
SIX families in barangay Tejero will have to voluntarily demolish their dwellings starting today to give way to a Cebu City government drainage project.
Raquel Arce, head of the city’s demolition team, said 33 more families will also be demolished next year after the city-initiated project will formally be bidded out and turned over to a private contractor for the continuation of its implementation.
Arce said the city will extend financial assistance of P10,000 and relocation site to the families who will voluntarily demolish their structures.
Collin Rosell, head of the Department for the Welfare of the Urban Poor, said a public land near the fire site in Tejero will be assigned especially to the six families who will be the first to demolished.
The drainage project is intended for the access road which connects to General Maxilom Avenue in Carreta which the city government restored after the Tejero fire last year./DORIS C. BONGCAC
