Today, Dec. 27, is the 138th birth anniversary of the former Sen. Juan Sumulong. A member of the Philippine Commission, he was elected as senator for the fourth district composed of Manila, Rizal, Laguna and Bataan. One of his daughters, Demetria, was the mother of Corazon Aquino and grandmother of President Noynoy Aquino. The Juan Sumulong High School in Quezon City was named after him.
