41 flights to and from NAIA cancelled due to ‘Quinta’

MANILA, Philippines — Forty-one flights to and from Ninoy Aquino International Airport were cancelled on Wednesday due to bad weather brought by tropical depression “Quinta.”

The Naia state operator Manila International Airport Authority said 24 Cebu Pacific flights to and from Caticlan, Aklan, the main gateway to the resort island of Boracay, were cancelled between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Also cancelled were one Cebu Pacific and one Air Philippines Express flight to Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, together with their return trips.  Two Zest Air flights to Kalibo, Aklan, and their return trips, were also cancelled.

Flights to Masbate, Legazpi City, Roxas City in Capiz and Virac in Catanduanes, together with their return trips, were also cancelled.

The airlines were expected to rebook the affected passengers in the next available flights.

The MIAA said it expected flight schedules at Naia to normalize by Friday during storm’s passage through central Philippines.
