DSWD receives aid for typhoon victims

The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD-7) received donations from various government offices for the victims of typhoon ‘Pablo.’

The Central Visayas offices of the National Economic and Development Authority, Department of Interior and Local Government and the Philippine Ports Authority extended assistance to typhoon affected provinces in Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental.

In-kind donations included used clothing, shoes, slippers, bags and other assorted goods.

The Talisay City government, through the city’s Social Welfare and Development Office, also gave in-kind donations.

Bayawan City Mayor Rene Gaudiel also turned over a check for P1 million to DSWD-7 Director Ma. Evelyn Macapobre.

Bayawan City employees also raised a total of P31,000 out of their own pockets and turned over the amount to the DSWD-7.

Meanwhile, DSWD Secretary Corazon Soliman ordered the cancellation of their department-wide Christmas party to continue assisting thousands of victims of typhoon especially in Davao Oriental.

“Let us focus on the essential programs and services that are expected of the DSWD at this critical time,” Soliman said.
