Burglars hit Pork Shop, flee with P180,000

A meat shop in Cebu City lost almost P200,000 worth of cash and valuables to burglars last Saturday.

The Pork Shop of the Virginia Farms outlet in barangay Punta Princesa lost P178,582, a Myphone mobile phone worth P2,000, and a .38 caliber service revolver of a security officer.

Rolando Timbago, representative of the meat shop, reported the incident to police.

Investigation showed that the burglars hit the shop in F. Llamas Street after it closed at past 7 p.m.

Police said that the last person who entered the shop was the shop’s branch manager before closing time.

SPO4 Rogelio Canete Jr., Police Station 10 chief, said the burglars probably hit the store between 7 p.m. to early morning yesterday.

The burglars used bolt cutters to destroy the padlocks and entered the meat shop.

Timbago discovered the burglary when he reported for work yesterday morning at 7 a.m. He reported the incident to police.

They took the cash from the cash register, the cellphone in the drawer and the security officer’s gun which he left inside the wooden shelf after he left his post.
