MONTREAL—An infant was killed and several adults were injured Saturday after a plane en route from Winnipeg to Nunavut in northern Canada crashed, Canadian police said in a statement.
The Perimeter Aviation plane carrying seven passengers and two crew crashed close to the end of the runway south of the airport in Sanikiluaq, the town in Nunavut where the plane was originally headed, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said.
The infant was six months old. None of the other injuries were life-threatening, it said, adding an investigation was underway.
The co-pilot was flown to Winnipeg for treatment while others were treated on the scene, the Canadian Broadcasting company reported.
Sanikiluaq is an Inuit community of 850 residents on the Belcher Islands in southeastern Hudson Bay.
