CAMP PACIANO RIZAL, Sta. Cruz, Laguna—A police desk officer was arrested in a buy-bust operation Thursday evening in Biñan City, Laguna, police said Friday.
Arresting officers recovered a sachet of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and marked money amounting to P1,000 from Police Officer 2 Albert Ocampo, said Senior Superintendent Gilbert Cruz, Laguna police director, in a text message.
Cruz said police from the Laguna Special Task Group arrested Ocampo at around 7:30 p.m. while he was on duty.
Police, however, have yet to confirm if the arrest was made in Barangay Malaban, a known lair of illegal drug activities, as investigation was still continuing.
“We had to do something about it,” Superintendent Leo Luna, Biñan City police chief, said by phone, after police operatives acted on a tip about Ocampo’s involvement in the illegal drug trade.
Luna said Ocampo was turned over to the Laguna provincial police office and would face criminal and administrative charges that may lead to his dismissal from duty.
