MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine National Police (PNP) will start monitoring Tropical Cyclone “Kabayan”, an official said Friday, even after the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that the latest weather was still too far away to affect the country.
Police Director Rommel Heredia, chairman of PNP sub-committee on disaster management, said all regional directors, as well as provincial regional officers,
were instructed to monitor the situation and undertake precautionary measures.
Heredia said the PNP was also directed to continuously disseminate information and monitor communities, particularly residents in low-lying areas and those near mountain slopes against possible landslides or flashfloods.
