Barangay Kinasang-an and nine other barangays emerged victorious in the 4th Search for the Top 10 Most Child-Friendly Barangay in Cebu City.
Joining Kinasang-an in the top 10 were: barangays Sudlon II, Tinago, Sambag II, Pulangbato, Cogon Ramos, Binaliw, Budlaan, Apas and Kasambagan. Each of the barangays received a plaque of recognition and P35,000 worth of projects for their young constituents in a ceremony held last Dec. 11 at the Cebu Grand Convention Center.
The top 11 to 20 included barangays Suba, Adlaon, Bacayan, Bonbon, Bulacao, Ermita, Guba, Pamutan, San Jose and Sta. Cruz.
They received a certificate of commendation and P15,000 worth of projects for the children in their respective barangays.
The top 20 barangays were chosen from the city’s 80 barangays that participated in the search.
Dr. Patricio Gabuya, Department of Interior and Local Government Cebu City director, said the activity aimed to raise awareness and to continue the services and activities for the children in the barangay level.
“Manghinaut mi nga continuous ang atong cooperation in taking care of our children as they are the hope of our nation,” said Suzane Ardosa, executive director of the Cebu City Commission for the Welfare and Protection of Children.
Kinasang-an barangay captain Susan Enriquez said they always tapped everyone’s cooperation with proper documentation for active Barangay Council for the Protection of Children and updated reading and day care centers.
“We exceed from what is required and mandated by law. That’s why we are always on the top 10 since the start of the search in 2008,” Enriquez added.
