THE Utility Assurance Corp. (UTASSCO) skippered by team owner Flor Yosores trounced Jenjic Commando of John Tantay, 58-50, last Monday night to arrange a championship duel against league-leader Park n’ Go Bakeshoppe in the Power 40 basketball tournament.
Utassco grabbed a 19-14 lead in the opening quarter despite a sprained muscle injury suffered by team captain Meso who managed to score just three points in the game.
Wewe Cabrera fired 10 points in that stretch. Utassco then tore the game apart in the second period after unloading a, 14-6 bomb behind former USJ-R Jaguar Rey Abarquez for a commanding 13 points lead, 33-20 at the half.
The Commandos however, went strong in the third canto and outscored Utassco, 16-12 to move closer, 36-45 but failed to overhaul the later’s huge advantage.
Wewe Cabrera and Rey Abarquez topped Utassco’s offensive chart with 17 and 16 points, respectively, while Danny Dayota paced Jenjic Commando with 15 markers.
