Nurse found hanging dead in Cebu City hospital room

A 59-YEAR-OLD nurse was found hanging dead in his room at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.

Police said there were no external injuries that would suggest that there was a foul play involved in the death of Anastacio Tabanao, a stay-in nurse in the hospital.

A note addressed to Tabanao’s niece was found near the victim’s body, said SPO1 Ruth Violango of the homicide section of the Cebu City Police Office.

The niece Riza Saranillo, 28, is a public school teacher in barangay Punta Princessa.

The note read: “Relax lang, no problem.Naa ra ang ATM sa sulod sa white uniform with ATM pin.”

Violango said Tabanao had been suffering from diabetes and hypertension.

Police said the victim’s body was discovered by a co-worker around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The nurse was found with an electrical cord looped around his neck and the other tied to a beam.

The body was brought to the St. Peter Memorial Homes for autopsy./Correspondent Tweeny M. Malinao
