Suspected cybersex operators now sari-sari store owners
AFTER raids in two cybersex dens in Cordova town, five suspected operators have reportedly shifted to selling packed food and putting up sari-sari stores.
However, Cogon barangay captain Andres Dinoy said these people were still being monitored by barangay representatives because the change of activity may just be a temporary ruse.
Dinoy, who earlier said there were five other cybersex operators in his barangay, said these suspects sold their computers to relatives and friends and put tables in front of their houses or buiilt sari-sari stores after the two raids in June and July.
He said the women involved in the on-line pornography racket were now going to Lapu-Lapu City to use the Internet, possibly because of the close monitoring in the town..
He also said one suspected cybersex operator allowed his wife to have an affair with a foreigner, who visited Cebu for a month.
The foreigner allegedly built them a house.
He said last year he had to mediate a couple’s spat after the husband got jealous of the foreigner. The couple settled their differences amicably.
Yesterday the Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC) together with the Children’s Legal Bureau and the Children’s Right Protection Unit met with the 13 barangay captains of Cordova town.
They agreed to hold activities this October to make children aware of their rights and to have a common advocacy against cybersex.
The activities include a puppet show tackling children’s rights on Aug. 5 in Centro Elementary School. Reporter Jucell Marie P. Cuyos
