THE Hoopers bucked the absence of skipper Yoly Meso in ripping the USC Intangibles, 72-60, Sunday night to march into the semifinal round of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) 2012 basketball tournament at the Capitol Parish gym.
The Hoopers had a sluggish start resulting in an early, 10-13 deficit as Aldren Camiso led USC Intangibles’ sizzling start.
However, the Hoopers rallied back in the 2nd canto to grab the lead at halftime, 34-29, behind the hot tandem of Andre Tocao and Julius Makinano.
Then, in the 3rd period, the Hoopers outscored the USC Intangibles, 27-15 anchored on pointguard Dondon Santiago who drained 14 points in that stretch as the former erected a commanding 17-point lead, 61-44, going to the final quarter. /Correspondent Dale Rosal
