DAD ON WAY TO TREAT SON, KILLED
A MAN on his way to pick up his son to give him a birthday treat was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in barangay Cogon-Pardo, Cebu City.
Ruf Heyrana, 22, died on the spot with gunshot wounds in the back and and face.
Love triangle and land dispute are being looked into as possible motives in the killing, PO1 Nilo Aventurado of the homicide section of the Cebu City Police Office.
Police said the victim was waylaid while he was walking in an alley past 7 p.m. Monday.
Police said the victim was headed to the house of his former live-in partner to pick up his son who will celebrate his third birthday today.

In a separate incident, a vendor of a rolling siomai store was injured after he was shot by a group of men in C. Padilla St., barangay Duljo-Fatima .
Police said Ronald Ortega, 28, could be a victim of “paregla” or random violence.
Ortega was wounded in the body. He was brought to a hospital for treatment.
Police said Ortega, who was driving a tricycle, passed by a group of four men when he was shot past midnight yesterday.
The assailants fled after the attack.

MAN ACCUSED OF MOLESTING GIRL
A 44-YEAR-OLD man was accused of sexually molesting an eight-year-old girl in Mandaue City.
Ricardo Gerosa Jr., 44, denied the accusations against him.
Police said the girl’s mother allegedly caught the man embracing her daughter inside their house past 10 p.m. Sunday.
The mother told police that her daughter was sleeping when he left home and went to a neighbor’s house to watch television.
The mother returned home an hour later and was surprised to see that the lights in their house were already switched off.
The said she switched on the lights and saw the man beside her daughter.
The man hurriedly stood up and ran out of the house, the mother said.
The mother said her daughter confided to her that the man undressed her and touched her private parts.
The mother reported the alleged abuse to the police.
Police arrested the suspect in his home.
A complaint for acts of lasciviousness was filed against the suspect.
