AFP assures anew of cooperation in plunder case vs officials

MANILA, Philippines – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Friday reiterated its assurance that the institution would cooperate in the hearings of the plunder charges filed against three former chiefs of staffs, two former comptrollers and several other senior military officials.

In a chance interview after the closing ceremonies of the RP-US Balikatan exercises held in Camp Aguinaldo, Friday, AFP chief General Eduardo Oban said that they would make available all military officials currently in active service to attend the hearing procedure if they would be called to testify by the court.

“It has always been our position to seek the truth, that’s the bottomline and with that in mind, we’ll have to make available people and other requirements that might be needed in pursuit of that objective,” Oban said.

“What we’re doing is just in case there will be requirements pertaining to the presence or availability of personnel who might have some knowledge on the allegations, then we’ll make him or them available,” he furthered.

Meanwhile, the military chief said that they would not file further charges against the respondents of the plunder raps filed by military fund mess whistle blower George Rabusa on Thursday, saying that the case is “already at the level of the court.”
