Rising Suns, Superchargers look to break four-team logjam

THE CAGAYAN Valley Rising Suns and the Big Chill Superchargers aim to move closer towards an outright slot in the semifinals when they take on different opponents in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup today at the Emilio Aguinaldo College gym.

The two teams are mired in a four-way logjam in second place but will be aiming to break away with the Suns battling the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers and the Superchargers taking on the Erase Xfoliant Erasers.

The Suns hope to bounce back from a 75-84 defeat against defending champions NLEX last Dec.4 while JRU is aching rebound to stay in playoff contention. The Rising Suns are among the league’s top scoring teams, averaging 83 points a game. But they are also the worst team on defense, allowing 81 points an outing.

The Road Warriors have clinched one of the two outright semi-final berths on the strength of their 8-1 (win-loss) record. The second slot is a toss-up among Cagayan Valley, Big Chill, Blackwater Sports and Café France – tied at 4-2 mark.
