Victory firms up Warriors’ hold of top spot in U-23
The University of San Carlos (USC) continues to reign supreme in the Under 23 category as it pummeled University of Cebu (UC), 4-1, in yesterday’s resumption of the 15th Aboitiz Football Cup at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
The Warriors has now strengthened its hold of the top spot with seven points following goals from Koko Gaudiel, Jules Villahermosa, Keen Agot and Fredrick Justin Payot while the Webmasters continue to languish in the cellar. Its lone goal was scored by Shestha Revolution.
USC also regained the bracket A lead in the girls 17 with a, 9-0 annihilation of Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion (CIC)-Mandaue.
In bracket B, St. Theresa’s College solidified its hold of the top spot with a 1-0 edging of San Roque Football Club (SRFC).
The Warriors also had a successful campaign in the boys 17 with USC winning its first match in a spectacular 10-0 routing of Blessed John in bracket B while USC-BED finally barged into the win column in bracket A with a, 5-2 bashing of the DB Azkals.
EASY WINS
Article continues after this advertisementScoring whitewash victories in the boys 14 division were SJS-Mactan and Canduman. SJS-Mactan inflicted a, 9-0 lashing of Centre for International Education (CIE) while Canduman pounded Hijas de Jesus, 6-0.
Article continues after this advertisementIn the boys 12, DB Razkals demolished VEPS, 5-0, while the Bright Minds in Action Learning Village (BMALV) surged past Children’s Paradise Montessori School (CPMS), 5-1.
The other match between Warzhockz and Canduman ended in a 2-all draw.
In the players 10, CIE A finally posted a win in bracket D with a 5-0 blanking of Hijas de Jesus. Other matches saw USC-BED sinking VEPS, 3-0, BMALV routing CPMS, 7-0, Dinamo annihilating CIE B, 12-0, and Giuseppe-Gerry’s Grill enjoying a 6-0 victory over Holy Infant.
Winning their matches in the players 8 were Canduman, USC-BED and Springdale B. Canduman punished CPMS, 6-1, USC-BED blanked VEPS, 4-0 and Springdale B streaked past CIE, 2-0.
The match between SRFC A and Warzhockz ended in a scoreless draw.
The tournament will resume today with matches in the 38 Above, U23, Men’s Open and BPO still at the Aboitiz Sports Field.
