Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Ruffy Biazon clarified on Saturday that he was not running for mayor of Muntinlupa City in the 2013 elections.
This was following reports of a growing clamor from some quarters in the city for the former three-term Muntinlupa representative to challenge the incumbent mayor, Aldrin San Pedro.
“There really is a resounding clamor for change in Muntinlupa, but I’m not running,” Biazon said through his personal Twitter account @ruffybiazon.
Biazon, a member of the Liberal Party (LP) along with his father, Muntinlupa Representative Rodolfo “Pong” Biazon, said the ruling party already had a complete set of local candidates in Muntinlupa.
“Muntinlupa LP already has a mayoral candidate. He is former Mayor Jimmy Fresnedi,” the younger Biazon added.
Though the period for the filing of certificates of candidacy for next year’s elections already ended in October, the Commission on Elections allows the substitution of party candidates until December 21. Jaymee T. Gamil
