LABORER NABBED FOR RAPE
POLICE arrested a construction worker accused of raping a 15-year-old high school student in barangay Dikit, Bogo City, northern Cebu.
A rape case was filed yesterday against Fiegie Montellano Abacial.
The girl told police that she was walking in a dark area when the suspect accosted her and punched her in the abdomen.
The girl said the man dragged her to a bushy area and raped her.
The girl said the man threatened her not to shout.
The suspect ran away when he saw a man walking toward their direction, according to the girl.
The girl reported the abuse to the police that resulted in the arrest of the suspect.

MAN FOUND DEAD IN SAN FERNANDO
A 40-YEAR-OLD man was found dead with a gunshot wound in the head in barangay Sangat, San Fernando town, southern Cebu.
The body of Richard Allosa Canoy was found outside his house by his neighbor past 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Illegal drug connections is being looked into as a possible motive in the killing, PO1 Salvador Saavedra III of San Fernando police said.
Saavedra said the police recovered drug paraphernalia from the man’s house.
An empty shell of caliber .45 pistol was found in the crime scene, police said./Correspondent Joy Cherry S. Quito
LOTTO WORKER STABBED DEAD
A WORKER of a lotto outlet was stabbed dead by an unidentified assailant in barangay Sambag I, Cebu City on Wednesday night.
Police are still investigating the motive in the killing of Laila Tingal, a resident of barangay Cansojong, Talisay City.
Joseflor Mahilom, co-worker of the victim, told police that he and Tingal were walking on J. Alcantara Street when an unidentified man suddenly pushed the victim to the ground and started stabbing him.
The assailant fled after attacking the victim.
Mahilom said Tingal was able to run a few meters from where he was attacked before he slumped to the ground.
Mahilom sought help from co-worker Angel Rojas. They brought Tingal to the hospital on board a taxi but the victim did not make it alive./Correspondent Tweeny M. Malinao
