Unitec tops UABC hoop anew
UNITEC maintained its dominance of the United Architects Basketball Club (UABC) Corporate Cup as it claimed its fourth title in five years following its 95-86 win over Boysen during the championship game last Sunday at the Cebu Eastern College gym.
The title was Unitec’s second in a row and it was claimed in style, leading from the opening tip until the final buzzer despite the 36-point outburst of Boysen’s Michael Cinco.
Though Ferdinand Tiro, Amed Decatoria and Chad Go took turns puncturing the defense of Boysen, it was Criz Matunog who was named the league’s Finals MVP.
Tiro had 17 points while Decatoria, last year’s MVP, added 15 markers. Go chipped in 11 points.
Cinco got help from Jun Villacorta, Duane Anino and Richard Badayos, who connived to score 37 points.
But it was not enough to stop Unitec’s juggernaut towards the crown.
