Charges of parricide have been filed against the son of a woman whose dead body was found in the trunk of the family car at a subdivision in Camarin, Caloocan City, last month.
Jorge Jose Jorge Jr., 20, was linked to the death of his mother, 49-year-old Marilou, after two witnesses said they saw him driving the family car around 3 a.m. on Nov. 27 and leaving at a nearby basketball court.
Marilou’s body was discovered in the trunk of the Honda Civic (CTF 103) the following day. Her hands were tied and her face covered with a sack. Investigation showed that she died due to severe head injuries. There were also contusions and abrasion on her arms and body.
Senior Supt. Rimas Calixto, Caloocan police chief, said the case against Jorge was filed by the victim’s brother Roel Mandapat last Friday.
On the other hand, Marilou’s husband, Jorge Jose Sr., was charged with obstruction of justice after he prevented policemen from going inside their house to conduct an investigation.
The police also said that based on his sworn statement, the older Jorge had claimed that he left the house with his daughter at 6 a.m. on Nov. 27. At that time, the victim was doing the laundry while his son was about to leave, Jorge had said. His testimony, however, contradicted the statements of the two witnesses who said they saw the younger Jorge driving the family car at 3 a.m.
The police have yet to determine the motive for the crime.
