MANILA, Philippines – Justice Secretary Leila De Lima said the joint Department of Justice (DoJ) and Commission on Elections (Comelec) will summon former First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo following allegations that he funded the break-in at the Batasan Pambansa building to steal election returns for the 2004 elections.

“We will summon [Mr. Arroyo] if he will be implicated in the affidavit by these police officers, definitely we will summon him,” De Lima said.

However, De Lima said that it was not yet clear if Senior Superintendent Rafael Santiago had direct knowledge of the first gentleman’s involvement.

“He mentioned something about FG but as to whether he has personal knowledge, that is what we have to verify,” she added.
