Fire hits Makati residential area

MANILA, Philippines — The fire that swept through a residential block in Makati City Monday morning has been placed under control, a city fire officer said.

Senior Fire Officer 3 Librado Villanueva said the fire that gutted a still unidentified number of houses along Coronado Street in Barangay (village) Guadalupe Viejo started at 9:53 a.m.

It reached third alarm before it was declared under control at 10:30 a.m., Villanueva said.

He said authorities would be able to determine the origin and cause of fire after the blaze was completely put out.

No information on injuries or casualties has reached their office as of posting time, Villanueva said.
