LA ALDEA del Sol dimmed the playoff hopes of Ramirez Village as it gave the team from Ibabao, Mandaue City its third loss with as 72-63 win in the Lord of the Rings • Battle of the Villages Friday night at the J centre Mall in Mandaue City.
Agro-Macro Subdivision also dominated Garden Bloom Acres, 75-58, in the other battle in the same Christmas HoopStars supported by Dunkin’ Donuts.
Ibabao-Ramirez sparked a 12-0 run over La Aldea in the second quarter with Adrian Armenion pouring 11 of his 18 points in that stretch.
His elder brother and team captain Ariel Armenion also scored 8 of his 18 points in the same quarter to recover from a six-point deficit in the first period and end the half with an eight-point advantage.
But Vincent Daligdig and Edward Seno matched the production of the younger team by the third quarter, hitting seven points each.
The rest of La Aldea also limited Ibabao-Ramirez to eight points in the same period that spoiled the last quarter rally of the team backed by A-Construction. /pr
