Don Bosco A clinched the players 6 title of the 15th Aboitiz Football Cup with a 1-0 penalty shootout win over Ateneo de Cebu (AdC) yesterday at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
Golden Boot awardee Ash Balesteros scored the goal for Don Bosco A. He was also named as the most valuable player.
Other special awardees in the category were Vilo Benitiz as best half-back and Xedria Tomaz Cala as best defender. Both are from AdC.
In the girls 17, AdC took over the top spot in bracket A with a 12-0 routing or Cebu International School (CIS).
In the boys U23, the University of Southern Philippines posted its first win via a 1-0 edging of the University of the Visayas.
Posting wins in the boys 12 were Bright Academy with a 3-1 outsmarting of Springdale, CIS with a 14-0 routing of Bright Minds in Action Learning Village (BMALV) and AdC with a 2-0 blanking of Warzshockz.
In the players 10, Bright Academy, AdC B and VEPS barged into the win column. Bright Academy scored a 4-1 win against San Roque Football Club (SRFC), AdC B blanked St. John Kenty, 4-0, and VEPS streaked past AdC A, 2-0.
Lahug B, CIS, AdC, VEPS and Bright Academy A won their matches against their respective foes.
Lahug B downed Canduman, 1-0, CIS outsmarted Warzshockz, 4-2, AdC blanked Lahug A, 2-0, VEPS blanked Springdale B, 5-0, and Bright Academy A demolished Springdale A, 6-1.
