Knee-high socks against dengue in Mandaue

PRE-SCHOOL children in Mandaue City are strongly encouraged to wear knee-high socks as part of the city’s preventive measures against dengue.

This step will reduce skin exposure to insects.

Councilor Jimmy Lumapas, author of the City Council resolution enjoining parents, teachers and students to follow the measure, will be visiting kindergarten classes in 27 barangays to jumpstart the campaign. The resolution was approved last Wednesday.

“The best way to prevent dengue is to keep mosquitoes away,’ he said.

Wear light colored clothes or long sleeves. Use mosquito repellants and wear knee-high socks, he said.
