DON Bosco A and Ateneo de Cebu (AdC) gun for the vacated players 6 title of the 15th Aboitiz Football Cup as the tournament resumes today at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
Don Bosco A advanced to the championship round with a 3-0 semifinal win over Giuseppe FC-Gerry’s Grill while AdC clinched its finals ticket with a 3-2 edging of Don Bosco B in their own semifinals match.
Don Bosco A ruled bracket A with nine points after winning all of its elimination matches while AdC trailed at the second spot as the runner-up after after finishing the eliminations with two wins and one loss equivalent to six points.
In the other categories, Cebu International School (CIS) hopes to post its first win in the tournament as it faces the defending champions AdC in the lone girls 17 match.
Another team hoping to barge into the win column is the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) as it goes up against University of the Visayas in the boys U23 category.
In the players 12, Bright Academy hopes to not only win against Springdale but also take the top spot in bracket A. Both teams hold three points apiece but Springdale leads Bright Academy on an 11-point goal difference.
Other matches in the category will see CIS hoping to nail its second win against Bright Minds in Action Learning Village (BMALV) and AdC vying for its first win against bracket C leader Warzshockz.
Four matches will be on hand in the players 10 with St. John Kenty playing against AdC B, Bright Academy facing San Roque Football Club (SRFC), BMALV taking on Warzshockz and AdC A squaring off vs VEPS.
Players 8 will have Lahug B versus Canduman, CIS against Warzshockz and Lahug A against outsmart AdC. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
