Mobile livestock licensing services held in Negros Or.

THE Livestock and Poultry sector of the Department of Agriculture in Central Visayas (DA-7) has extended mobile licensing services for livestock handlers and transport carriers in Negros Oriental.

DA-7 Livestock and Poultry program coordinator Joel Elumba said the undertaking was able to serve about 60 livestock handlers and transport carriers.

The licensing services were held in the Livestock Oksyon markets in Malatapay, Zamboanguita; Hagtu, Mabinay; Dauis, Bayawan City; Nabilog, Tayasan; and Solongon, La Libertad. The undertaking made licensing services accessible to clients.

The DA requires handlers and carriers of livestock and poultry products and by-products to register with the office to get a license to operate their business.

Prior to the granting of license and accreditation certificates, applicants are required to undergo a seminar on the proper handling of animals under the Animal Welfare Act of 1998, proper handling of animals before and after slaughter and quarantine rules and regulations.
