7:30 p.m.- San Mig Coffee vs. Globalport
The Barako Bull Energy Colas try to avoid elimination when they battle the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters today in the 38th PBA Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.
The San Mig Coffee Mixers are favored to post a crucial victory when they tangle with the eliminated Globalport Batang Pier.
Barako Bull is currently at ninth place with a 4-9 (win-loss) record and a loss against Rain or Shine will mean elimination for them.
A win by the Energy Colas will allow them to catch up the Air21 Express, who ended the elimination round with five wins and nine defeats.
Should they end up with the same records after the eliminations, the two squads will play each other in a playoff game to earn a quarterfinal berth.
Rain or Shine is looking to keep its top two finish bid alive. The Painters are ranked third in the standings with an 8-5 record.
Rain or Shine’s only chance to finish in the top two is if San Mig Coffee loses its last two games. The Coffee Mixers are at solo second place with a 9-3 record. San Mig Coffee will end its elimination round assignment against the Meralco Bolts on Sunday.
The defending champions Talk ’N Text Tropang Texters are already assured of the number one seeding owing to their 11-2 slate. The Texters have still one game left against the Barangay Ginebra Kings on Sunday.
