MANILA — A 5.5 magnitude quake felt in several areas hit Eastern Samar yesterday morning with aftershocks expected.
The tectonic quake was recorded at 8:43 a.m.,138 km northeast of Guiuan, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
The quake had a depth of 20 kilometers.
It was felt at Intensity 5 in Mercedes, Eastern Samar; Intensity 4 in Tacloban City, Borongan City, General MacArthur, Eastern Samar; Intensity 3 in Catbalogan City; Jaro, Eastern Samar, Dulag; Tolosa, Leyte; Intensity 2 in Capoocan; Dagami, Leyte.
No immediate damages were recorded, Phivolcs said.
A 7.6 magnitude tremor also shook Samar late August. /INQUIRER.NET
