THEFT SUSPECT NABBED

A 21-YEAR-OLD man was arrested after he allegedly snatched the shoulder bag of a female jeepney passenger in barangay Camputhaw, Cebu City.

A complaint for theft was filed against Mark Benson yesterday afternoon.

The complainant, Leilanie Torre, told police that she was aboard a jeepney past 7 p.m. Wednesday when Benson suddenly grabbed her bag.

The alleged robber got off the jeepney and ran toward barangay Capitol Site. The woman gave chase.

While chasing, Torre saw a policeman who was patrolling in the area.

PO3 Alberto Diamante of Guadalupe police station chased Benson and cornered him while he was about to ride a tricycle.

EX-SOLDIER KILLED

A FORMER soldier was shot dead while walking home in barangay Lugo, Borbon town, northern Cebu.

A personal grudge could be the motive in the killing of Virgilio Montebon Arong, who succumbed to a gunshot wound in the head, police said.

Police said the victim came from the funeral of his cousin when he was attacked past 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Relatives brought the victim to the Juan Dosado Memorial Hospital in Sogod town but he was declared dead by the attending physician.

TRAVEL AGENCY LOSES P800T

CLOSE to P1 million cash was stolen from a Korean-owned travel agency in barangay Alang-alang, Mandaue City.

The theft was discovered by Christy Nares, 23, one of the four workers of KJL Tour Leaders A.C. Cortes Avenue.

The travel agency is owned by Seo Beom Seok, 43.

Nares, a resident of barangay Marigondon, Lapu-Lapu City, said she arrived at the office past 9 a.m. yesterday and was surprised to discover that the door was already unlocked.

Once inside, Nares found the vault containing P837,741 was already destroyed.

Police said there were no signs of forced entry in the office. The things inside were in order.

A laptop and cell phone placed on top of a table were not taken, police said.

Operatives of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) lifted fingerprints from the office as part of the investigation./CORRESPONDENT JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS
