Cops to use video on FEU shooting to get gunmen

The police will use the footage taken by a bank’s security camera to identify the men who shot three Far Eastern University (FEU) students on Tuesday evening near the school campus in Manila, killing two of them and leaving the third wounded.

Chief Inspector Joey de Ocampo, Manila Police District homicide chief, said the footage showed the gunmen walking away after the shooting. “We need to enhance the video but the faces of the suspects could be seen,” he told the Inquirer. He added that they were still looking into several angles to determine the motive for the shooting.

De Ocampo said that the father of one of the FEU students who were killed, 17-year-old Juan Paolo Nepumuceno, went to the MPD headquarters and offered leads to investigators. He added that Jerald Santos, the other fatality in the shooting incident, belonged to a fraternity and was wearing the fraternity’s shirt when they were shot.

The third victim, Adrian Santiago, 18, survived and remains confined at a hospital. Police records showed the victims had gone to nearby R. Papa Street to buy food during a break in the middle of practice on Tuesday night. They were walking back to the school gym on Nicanor Reyes Sr. Street when they were shot.—Nancy C. Carvajal
