MANILA, Philippines — A 5.5 magnitude quake felt in several areas hit Eastern Samar Thursday morning with aftershocks expected.
The tectonic quake was recorded at 8:43 a.m.,138 kilometers northeast of Guiuan, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
The quake had a depth of 20 kilometers.
It was felt at Intensity V in Mercedes, Eastern Samar; Intensity IV in Tacloban City, Borongan City, General MacArthur, Eastern Samar; Intensity III in Catbalogan City; Jaro, Eastern Samar, Dulag; Tolosa, Leyte; Intensity II in Capoocan; Dagami, Leyte.
No immediate damages were recorded, Phivolcs said.
