Erasers try to reclaim win touch vs Gems
THE Erase Xfoliant Erasers will try to return to the winning track when they face the Cebuana Lhuillier Gems in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup today over at the Trinity University of Asia.
The Erasers have lost their last two games by a combined 20 points but will be looking to right the ship today against a similarly-struggling Gems squad.
Erase Xfoliant and Cebuana Lhuillier are tied with Fruitas for sixth to eighth spots with 2-3 (win-loss) records.
Jose Rizal University takes on winless Boracay Rum in the other game scheduled at 2 p.n.
The Erasers rank fifth among the league’s top defensive teams but their 74 points per game average is among the lowest in the conference. Certainly, Nate Matute, Jett Vidal and George Allen will have to pick up their offensive rhythms to help the team get back on the winning track.
The Gems on the other hand, have struggled in their previous five games with their visible lack of chemistry.
JRU (1-3) will also try to bounce back from an 83-88 loss to Blackwater Sports last week to stay in contention for a playoff spot. The Heavy Bombers are slightly favored over the Waves (0-5), who had their worst start in four conferences.
The top two teams after the single round eliminations earn outright spots in the semi-finals while the third to sixth placed teams advance to the quarterfinal phase. The remaining five teams will be eliminated. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
