PRC official arrested for alleged extortion

MANILA, Philippines–The National Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday arrested an official of the Professional Regulation Commission for alleged extortion.

Justice Secretary Leila De Lima confirmed that PRC Commissioner Alfredo Po was arrested in an entrapment operation for demanding P394,000 as his commission for  the rentals being paid by PRC for a leased building.

“Yes, he was entrapped by NBI for demanding P394,000.00 as his commission for the rentals being paid by PRC for a leased building. He will be subjected to inquest soon,” De Lima said in a text message to reporters.

Po is the chairman of the Philippine Board of Mechanical Engineers.
