CAUGHT STEALING MILK

A 19-YEAR-OLD man and taxi driver allegedly connived in stealing packs of powdered milk from a cargo forwarding company in barangay Tisa, Cebu City.

Raymund Gabilla was caught loading two sacks containing 62 packs of powdered milk to a taxi driven by Gregorio Golez, police said.

Police said a boy was inside the taxi during the arrest.

The items were allegedly stolen from the office of 2GO Group Inc. in Gaisano Mall.

Prior to the arrest, Archie Romeo Olor, operation supervisor of 2GO Group Inc., reported to the police after discovering the theft Monday afternoon.

Police conducting a follow-up operation caught Gabilla with sacks of powdered milk.

Police said Gabilla and Golez failed to present documents that they owned the items.

Police said Golez and Gabilla later admitted that they were part of the handymen contracted by the trucking company.

Golez and Gabilla identification three 17-year-old boys as cohorts.

Police apprehended the three boys and turned them over to social workers./Correspondent Tweeny M. Malinao

2 DIE IN CEBU CITY SHOOTINGS

TWO men were killed in separate shooting incidents in Cebu City last Monday.

Police are still investigating possible motives in the killing of Nino Delos Reyes, 25, and Rico Aman.

Police said three men went to Delos Reyes’ in barangay Duljo-Fatima last Monday afternoon.

Police said the two men entered the house while their companion stayed outside and served as a lookout.

Once inside, the two men peppered the victim with bullets.

The victim died on the spot with gunshot wounds in the chest and left arm.

The assailants fled, police said.

Recovered from the scene were an empty shell and slug for a .45 pistol.

Hours later, Aman was shot dead while walking along a road in barangay Ermita.

Aman succumbed to a gunshot wound in the head.

Police said there were several people in the crime scene but no one cooperated in the investigation./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON

COLLECTOR ROBBED, SHOT

A COLLECTOR of a lending firm was shot and wounded after he resisted a robbery in barangay Bulacao, Talisay City, southern Cebu.

Gaudencio Baylosis, collector of M-Jhon Lending, was wounded in the left arm.

Baylosis, 39, was doing a round of collection Monday afternoon when two armed men robbed him.

Baylosis refused to give his bag containing P8,000 and a cell phone worth P3,500 that prompted one of the robbers to shoot him, said SPO1 Mikie Espina of the Talisay City police.

Police said the two robbers fled with the victim’s bag.

Baylosis was brought to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for treatment.

Police conducted a follow-up operation after the robbery was reported but failed to locate the suspects./CORRESPONDENT GABRIEL C. BONJOC

TALISAY FIRM BURGLED

UNIDENTIFIED thieves stole P60,000 cash from a financing firm in barangay Tabunok, Talisay City, southern Cebu.

The theft was reported by Benjamin Gumahad, collector of SouthStar Financing Company.

Gumahad told police that the company’s vault was destroyed and the cash inside was missing when he went to the office yesterday morning.

SPO1 Edgar Causon of the Talisay City Police said the establishment didn’t have a security guard.

The robbers entered the office by destroying the padlock of the main door.

Investigation is underway to identify the thieves, police said./CORRESPONDENT GABRIEL C. BONJOC
