Unitec, Boysen make UABC c’ship round

TOP SEEDS Unitec and Boysen took care of business as they advanced to the best-of-three championship series with contrasting wins in their semifinal games in the 2012 United Architects Basketball Club (UABC) 3rd Corporate Cup last Sunday at the Benedicto College gym along AS Fortuna Street in Mancaue City.

Unitec left no doubt regarding their top seeding as they demolished bitter rivals Durabend, 74-59, while Boysen had to come back from a 16-point deficit to cut down Cebu Homebuilders, 73-71.

The winning teams advanced to the finals, which will commence next month. The losing squads were relegated to playing for third place.

Jay-R Decatoria and Chad Go led the balanced effort with 17 points each while Criz Matunog and Ferdinand Tiro had 13 apiece to lead the defending champions bid for a third straight title.

On the other hand, Durabend struggled mightily with their shot as Elmer Laguna and Jonathan Suico had 11 and 10, respectively.

In the other semis pairing, Michael Cinco led the comeback with 25 points while Josephril Partosa added 16 markers. Duane Anino also chipped in 11 as Boysen had to overcome an 8-24 deficit at the end of the first canto.
